Dr Jody Waters is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) with more than 16 years of experience in general practice in Australia. She has a particular clinical interest in the assessment and ongoing management of ADHD and neurodivergence in children, adolescents and adults.
Dr Waters graduated from James Cook University with High Distinction and was awarded the James Cook University Gold Academic Medal. Her early medical career included broad hospital experience in paediatrics, neonatal intensive care and emergency medicine, including roles as a Paediatric Registrar and Neonatal Intensive Care Registrar. This experience provided a strong foundation in child and adolescent health and development across the lifespan.
Dr Waters understands that ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences can present differently for each person and may affect education, work, relationships, emotional wellbeing and everyday functioning. She takes a person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming approach, working collaboratively with patients and families to understand individual strengths and challenges. Her care may include assessment, diagnosis and the development of practical, individualised management plans.
Where appropriate, Dr Waters works collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists, paediatricians, schools and allied health professionals to support coordinated multidisciplinary care. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-informed care and helping patients better understand their neurodevelopmental profile and access appropriate support.
